An Egg A Day Challenge

You know Spring is in the air (NOT)
and that means Easter is coming
and that means
time for the Egg A Day Challenge.
(For me, that is:)

Mermaids first for all of you Sirens out there.
These are goose eggs and about 9 or so inches
starting at the top and going around the bottom
and back up to the top.

I have 30 of them to paint.
They will all be available in my online shop,
so have a look!

Mermaids R Us

How about a post about Mermaid STUFF that you can buy online?
(Besides mine! :)-----< )
First up , this sweet knitted mermaid doll from Bla Bla Kids.
Such a pretty web site!

Then there is a mer-cat rubber stamp.
So very adorable =:)

Starbucks anniversary blend with it"s awesome packaging.

A mermaid doll that you can make from the book

Buy a mermaid print or book, "The Survival Guide For Landlocked Mermaids"
by the lovely and talented Margo Datz of Martha's Vineyard.

This is a wonderful illustration that Sophie Blackall
did for, Cacao Prieto, a chocolate shop based in Brooklyn.
YUM!
Happy mermaid shopping!

Hand Painted Doll Wardrobe

I FINALLY painted this pretty little doll wardrobe.
I've had it for about 3 years.
Out with the old and in with the new!
This is the top.

It has a drawer on the bottom.

It stands about 24 inches tall (2 feet)x 15 inches wide.

A little latch on top holds the doors shut.

A view of the knobs.
It is painted on the inside, too and has a pole for hanging doll cloths.
It is available in my shop if you'd like it!
Don't forget Valentine's Day next week...
have a look HERE!
Thanks for looking and have a lovely weekend!

Nantucket Moby Dick Marathon

The 3rd annual   Moby Dick Marathon reading was held last weekend
at The Nantucket Atheneum and The Whaling Museum.
Nat Philbrick started things off.
It is about 25 hours long and we start on Saturday morning
and read straight through to Sunday afternoon.
I read chapter 126 "The Life Buoy" which is the only chapter
that mentions MERMAIDS!

There were two fellows who were promoting their new card game,
..." a dynamic adventure card game for 2-4 players
recreating the doomed voyage of the Pequod. Hire a crew, set sail,
and brave the terror of the white whale.Do you
have what it takes to survive Ahab's ambition?"
You know it will be the hottest game on Nantucket!

                                                               You can buy it HERE.
It will be available at Nantucket Bookworks soon as well!

They stayed through the whole marathon.
Here's Joel taking a snooze.
Good work, Guys!

After the epilogue, we all get a nice cold bottle of
Whale's Tail Pale Ale
from Cisco Brewers..(made right here on Nantucket!)
and some DELICIOUS chowda from Annye's Whole Foods.
Bea and chowda....what more could you ask for?

Here is David Lazarus reading the epilogue.
Here's to another fine marathon reading!
Happy Winter, all!
