The Mermaid of Quidnet

This is an oil painting that I did this week. I love the little area of Nantucket called Quidnet.

Sesachacha Pond flows back out to the ocean, but it is calm enough for families with small children , so you see a lot of them here!

This Mermaid is cutting out paper  mer dolls. She did a good job.

That's Sankaty lighthouse in the distance. We get the lighthouse beam through our windows at night. It makes a great night light! Off to the Studio...thanks for looking! :)

Hand Painted Easter Eggs

A blue egg.

I painted it with acrylic paints and finished it with a water based varnish.

There is the bottom. When I get them, they are already blown and sanded.

Here is the top with a brass cap for hanging. 

I also painted some egg boxes from Germany. They are made of paper.

They could hold lots of jelly beans and treasures :)

This is how the inside looks. The same design as the vintage paper egg boxes.

Mermaid Shells and Necklaces

This week, I am painting shells for the shop.

It will be getting busy soon, so it's time to stock up for the Summer.

These are all new mermaid designs. I like to do new ones every year.

I make a transfer from my drawings and apply the mermaid on the shell.

Then I hand paint all of the flowers and other designs with acrylic paint.

Then I seal it with two coats of water based varnish. Voila!

Here are the shell shard necklaces that I make using the same method. I string them with ribbon or cording. I make a bunch this year!

Another painting. 11 x 14.I like painting  the flower hat series.

I have a lovely gold frame coming to put this in.She is at the seashore.

Voila! Painted in gouache on canvas. $550.00 framed. The next one will be a mermaid at Quidnet. Stay tuned!

Mermaid Necklaces

These are shell shards from sea clams that I find on the beach.

I use a transfer from one of my drawings and apply it to the shard.

Then I handpaint the little flowers and dots.

Then I apply a few coats of water based varnish.

I glue a  tag on the back and put a ribbon on...et Voila!( $16.00 each....) Thanks for looking!
