Blue Egg

I now have blue fingertips from holding this egg. Do you remember that growing up at egg coloring time? We had rainbow fingers for days!
For some reason, the tip didn't wear out on this egg.
So I kept scribbling away.
Another egg finished!
McMaster and Storm is having a SALE! Great for Easter basket goodies... Thanks for looking! xo

Red Egg

Luckily, I like to paint eggs.
I dyed this goose egg red, and thought that I was going to paint white designs on it.
The white turned pink from the dye.
So they came out rather pale. I took a micron 005 red marker and drew on it to make it "pop" a bit.
I wore out the pen, right down to the metal. That's what happens when you draw on goose eggs. So off to get another! Watch some other egg painters ... here and here!

Lovely Clusters

Lovely Clusters has a blog and I'd love to be on their Blogger's list! So I'll tell you a bit about myself...

I've been painting ever since I can remember, from creating decorative barrettes and picture frames for my three sisters, painting sea stones from the beaches of Cape Cod and Nantucket and, as a teenager, covering every square inch of my bedroom with decoupaged images of flowers and butterflies. My blogsite is here at Nantucket Mermaid and my Etsy shop is here,
where I sell hand painted eggs, cake toppers, dolly sachets and more!

I was always inspired by designers like Laura Ashley ,MaryQuant, Celia Birtwell and especiallyEdward Gorey. Some of my favorite blogs and websites are Apolline a Paris for design and storybook fantasy, A Journey Around My Skull for wonderful book illustration, and Cannelle etVanille for the beautiful pictures and recipes for gluten free eating.

Here are some images of my work....

And my shop on 4 Fair Street in Nantucket! Thanks for looking! :)

Another Freaking Egg

Another mermaid this time.
We love them here being surrounded by sea and folklore.

Hydrangeas are profuse here on the Island...always blue because of the acidic soil.
I am doing a show at The Lighthouse School this weekend.
They liked all of the eggs last year. It's a fantastic flea market.. I got my hutch in the shop for ten bucks last year! It was brown, but I had a vision.....
She's glowing....she must have Spring fever!xo :)

Spring Equinox Egg

I think it was officially last night, but Happy Spring! It was glorious here today even though the weather forecast predicted COLD and RAIN. Ha! Ha! It was SUNNY and BEAUTIFUL and WARM.
So we went back to the garden and finished digging it up. All we have to do is till it a few times, and we're ready to go.
Then we came home and sat in the sun and I did this egg. I used colored pencils and markers....Purple and spring green!
Then at sunset, we took a walk on the beach. It was a great day. Hope yours was, too and Happy Spring! xo :):)

DONE!

Yesterday's Egg

Here is yesterday's egg. I was too tired to blog last night. I'm a morning blogger. But, I'll post today's egg this evening!
We are off to dig around in our plot at the Community Garden.
Jeffrey is going to make raised beds. This will be fun. I have my flower seeds all ready to plant.
In mid May, that is. I'll pick up some plants at Ballack's when we go to visit the Folks for Easter.
Another eggie tonight! xo

Another Egg

WOW! I have an electric pysanka egg decorating utensil but forgetaboutitalready! My friend, Jane Pollak, got it for me. She is THE queen of Pysanka eggs, in my opinion! But I fumble with that thing and have ultimate control with my wee paint brush, so voila!
My black egg.
I paint it with gouache...covers wonderfully and is my paint of choice.
It's water soluble, but now they are making acrylic gouache, and that is working out better, as it is easier to work with.
Jeffrey thinks this egg is the bee's knee's , so guess what will be in his Easter basket...
Here are a few more links! :) here and here xo
