Provincetown Visit

Jeffrey and I went to visit Jean and Chip in Provincetown last weekend. I went to art school with them and we hadn't seen each other for 30 ish years! We had a fantastic weekend! One adventure we took was out to the dune shacks where artists and writers go to in the summer as a retreat. We took the air out of the tires a bit (some of us took out more than others...I won't mention any names...ha ha) and away we sped over the dunes on the little road .
We had a delicious meal that Chip and Jean made ...salmon,corn on the cob sathered in pesto, and a delicious grilled potato salad....YUM! Then we took a walk to the beach, just over a dune or two....
Down a steep sand bank....
and sunset on the beach.....
I collected my usual pockets full of heart rocks and such......
Then back to the shack we went....beautiful pink and white rosa rugosas everywhere.
Thanks Jean and Chip! :)

New Mermaid and Whale Frames

I sell a lot of mermaid and whale "things". Sometimes my customers like them personalized with a child's name or a wedding date.
So I leave a space and do it while they wait....
Then they can take it right home with them!
Cheery.....
He's a cute one, too.....
These are 3/12 x 5 and 4 x 6....perfect for a little picture.
I found a roll of Laura Ashley wallpaper at the thrift shop and I use it for the frame insert.

We are off to P Town today to visit some college friends that I haven't seen in .....34 YEARS! That's probably older than some of my fellow bloggers :):) Well, we're still kickin' so watch out world! And we will get to see John's new ish Shop. YAY! These frames are available in my etsy shop.....Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend! :)

Garden Delight

Here is a picture of our community garden plot taken with my cell phone camera. Full of grass and the like. We double dug it by hand, rototilled it ,et VOILA!
Jeffrey built raised beds, and we motored them down to the gardens (15 minutes away)

There it is...al fluffy and a waiting....
We put them in, and leveled them and attached them to stakes so they won't move.
Finished! We have to add more compost and eel grass for the paths, but the hard work is done! Yippeeee!Flowers in the front, herbs in the middle, veggies in the back. Onward! :):)

Year of the Nantucket Woman

The Nantucket Historical Association's "Year Of The Nantucket Woman" has begun. There are all sorts of exhibitions on the Island celebrating Nantucket Women, young and old. I belong to a group of Women who call ourselves "Petticoat Row.•" Petticoat Row, once located on Centre Street, was named for the many women who owned and operated the shops that lined the downtown thoroughfares. Women traditionally ran the town of Nantucket, as their husbands traveled the seas for years at a time."...... If you'd like to read more interesting facts about Nantucket, you can find them HERE..... We are celebrating our first year at The Galley Beach Restaurant with a silent auction. SO..... I chose Maria Mitchell for my first Nantucket Woman Sachet Doll for the auction....and here she is! She's got great hair....
Yikes! I even got her beloved brooch on the doll. You can find a sweeter image of her with a little history HERE.
I don't know if she wore striped stockings, but you never know! Maybe she started wearing them after she discovered a comet..... You can find out more about this remarkable woman at The Maria Mitchell Association.
Here is another Nantucket Woman....Ms. Mermaid. I donated this little necklace to the auction too. The event takes place on June 1 at the Galley......Thanks for looking! Who will be the next Nantucket Woman Sachet Doll????? :):)
I have more of these necklaces at the Studio....blondes, brunettes and red heads and the like....:)

Children's Painted Chest of Drawers

I just finished painting a chest of drawers for some Grandparents.
Little fun scenes of Nantucket.....the whales, the rainbow fleet, the Old Mill, and of course, Mermaids!

The top is assorted shells, rosa rugosas, and a Nantucket Lightship Basket.

Just simple and cheery!
On to another chest of drawers for the shop! Thanks for looking! :)
