New header....new pursuits...

The Lighthouse School kids taught me how to needle felt.....Here is a wee bluebird and some acorns on a branch that I felted....
here' s Erin....their teacher and who's idea it was for the acorns......

The cat I felted bet the bunnies that I felted that they couldn't pick up the branch.....

The bunnies won the bet!

Here's the crew, the pig that Suzanne knit me for my birthday, the bluebird, my felted piggy, corgi, bunny 1, cat, bunny 2 and a ducky that Erin knit, all trying to eat my cookies! Thank you, Lighthouse School!

Here is a vase that I designed for a licensing venture that didn't pan out....but I got to keep the samples that they had made in China.

And here is a votive.... I had fun learning about licensing, but on the fence as to if I want to pursue it...we'll see! xo

Russian Textile Design

I got the book! Here are some inside shots....
very controlled paisley designs.....

Tiny wonder flowers....alot of the designs are on red backgrounds....or.....

Pink! My favorite color....It also has a great history of textile design and merchants....big men dresses in floral quilts...nice to see!...Author Susan Meller has a web site called "The Design Library" . She is also co- author of "Textile Designs" with Joost Elffers ( the guy that writes those big fat astrology/relationship books that everyone who comes in the Bookstore looks at but dosen't buy and the food books that kids love...who whould have known?) You can get the book here....

Textile designing

By now everybody has heard about Spoonflower....the site that prints your very own designs onto 100% cotton fabric...It's time to get cracking! I already have some designs that I'd like to print here, and my new blogger friend, Tamar, has a wonderful Auntie who's wonderful book I have just ordered for myself here. If you search around her site, she has some of it's contents posted, but I forget which month I saw it in! Here are three more posts I did about textiles...Here and here...and here
An old design I did on a pine box with pen and colored pencils....I'll re- do it and see what I come up with for fabric....

I love this color combo and I really would like a smeg someday! Happy designing! xo
