More on wallpaper

I have this lovely book of textiles that I got at Nantucket Bookworks
that I use for inspiration. The Vine design at the bottom of this post is from here ...It's called "fern motif" by Andre Groult 1913...
Another book that I picked up back in 2001 was at a show in NYC at the Neue Galerie.
The show featured decorative artwork of the Wierner Werkstatte and you can go

One of my favorite artists from the show was Dagobert Peche, and an example of his work is this lovely rose design. The Neue carries books on his work as well as a gift wrap sample book of his wallpaper designs. You can get it here.

I love this design.....Have a great weekend! xo

Wallpaper designs and the printer

I want to start designing wallpaper on a daily basis, but I'm so busy that I don't know if I can make that commitment. But I'm going to give it a try. This is an old design that I'll start with. I have others (more here) and here ...that I did when I took a year off from work and lived up in my house in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. I did the licensing show in New York and got a few nibbles, but I like the indie thing going on now, and since I have a son who just graduated from RISD in printmaking ( with honors...had to put that in...a real Mom...) I have a resource for printing my designs. Maybe on fabric, too. I remember Laura Ashley and her husband started their business on their kitchen table....I used to work on my kitchen table before I got a studio...I think we all started there!Anyway, I started a design last night...I'll see if I can finish it today and post it tomorrow! xoxo

Designs

Here are some designs that I did for little pocket mirrors that I will sell in our local Farmer's Market here on Nantucket. I am painting the signs for them, too. It should be fun! This weekend was the Figawi Race, and the ole guy did it! Good for him, I say. It was a beautiful Memorial Day here on the Island and everybody seemed happy...Yipppeee!

A Birthday Party

We're going to a birthday party...and here's the present. It's a big galvanized bucket that I painted. The handle is wrapped with little vintage flowers. We are adding a jar of lavendar bath salts, as it can be used for a foot bath. Or, we can fill it with Ice and wine and beer and use it as an ice bucket. Or, we can fill it with flowers and use it as a planter. The list goes on. Here's a nice link for your viewing pleasure! xo!
